Beware Macduff! Beware the Thane of Fife! Dismiss me. Macbeth already had a this nagging suspicion about Macduff but now that the witch warned him and told him to be careful of Macduff, he feels more relieved and confident of where his relationship stands with Macduff. Now that Macbeth knows that Macduff has fled to England, he will take action by killing him or anyone that stands with him. Something that I wonder is that, if the country is so bad why would Macduff leave his family defenseless?
Lady Macduff wonders why her husband left his family behind, she comes to the conclusion that he is a dead coward who left his family behind, but Ross stands up for Macduff by saying that he is a very trustful and noble individual.
I also wonder why Macduff seems so shock about the death of his family, he knew that the country was upside down, so what did he expect would happen to his family.
We can all agree that Malcolm should be the king of Scotland, not Macbeth. Therefore Malcolm puts Macduff to the test by comparing himself with Macbeth. Each new morn New widows howl, new orphans cry, new sorrows Strike heaven on the face, that it resounds As if it felt with Scotland, and yelled out Like syllable dolor.
Later on line , Malcolm puts Macduff to the test by saying that he will sleep with his wives, daughters, matrons, and maids to see how Macduff would react. But fear not yet To take upon you what is yours: you may Convey your pleasures in a spacious plenty, And yet seem cold, the time you may so hoodwink. We have willing dames enough: there cannot be That vulture in you, to devour so many As will to greatness dedicate themselves, Finding it so inclined.
Later Malcolm tells Macduff that he was testing him and that everything was a test. Devilish Macbeth By many of these trains hath sought to win me Into his power, and modest wisdom plucks me From over-credulous haste: but God above Deal between thee and me! Why are you silent? All my pretty ones? Did you say all? O hell-kite! What, all my pretty chickens and their dam At one fell swoop?
Macduff is referring to the murderer. Interesting how he keeps on using types of birds to refer to people. Theme: After finding out about bad news, we tend to get desperate and it convinces us to get revenge.
Nice mention of key literary features — foreshadowing, dramatic irony, use of diction, etc. Remember that you do not need to trace every mention of your character; focus on the key moments and how the character develops, which you point out with Macduff poor decision in leaving his family. Overall well written, but the posting is way too long for a blog, so shorten it next time!
