New York Giants wide receiver C. With the addition of a 17th regular-season game, the NFL reduced the preseason schedule from four games to three. Coach Joe Judge treated Saturday's game like the traditional fourth preseason outing, which typically means little to no time for most starters.
Judge said the third preseason game — Aug. New England — is when his starters will play the most. Backup quarterback Mike Glennon started in place of quarterback Daniel Jones, who got the night off. Glennon played behind the first-team offensive line, which consisted of left tackle Andrew Thomas, left guard Kenny Wiggins, center Nick Gates, right guard Will Hernandez, and right tackle Matt Peart.
Shane Lemieux, who is listed as the first-string left guard on the depth chart, suited up but did not start. Lemieux was carted off with a knee injury early in training camp but avoided the "worst-case scenario. Wide receiver David Sills V, who has been a standout at training camp, hauled in a yard pass deep down the sideline from third-string quarterback Clayton Thorson late in the first half. Sills also drew a passing interference penalty that brought the Giants deep into Jets territory earlier in the half, but running back Corey Clement lost a fumble on the next play.
Clement had a few nice runs beforehand with five carries for 32 yards 6. While noteworthy, it was outdone by his second carry, which went for 48 yards. No one was more excited on the sideline than fellow running back Saquon Barkley, who was seen jumping up and down in celebration. Wide receiver Damion Willis, who signed at the start of training camp, scored the Giants' only touchdown on a yard pass from Thorson in the fourth quarter.
Defensive tackle Danny Shelton stuffed Ty Johnson for a loss to force a turnover on downs. Shelton, and pounds, has played in 87 regular-season games with 72 starts in six seasons for Cleveland, New England, and Detroit. The Giants may soar when Barkley and the other injured players return, but a playoff berth already looks unlikely, especially because the Dallas Cowboys, with the fully healed quarterback Dak Prescott, have emerged as one of the top teams in the NFC.
With three wildcard teams now per conference, the Giants are not mathematically out of contention. But the Giants find themselves digging out of another hole. But Barkley it was. Judge, the year-old former assistant to Bill Belichick, might buy himself another year if the Giants finish this season strong.
They have company in their own division. Washington and the Eagles both lost dismally Sunday to join the Giants at I see it from our guys every week. Well, that is good to hear, anyway. It was easily the No. Robert Saleh also got his first win as head coach. The Jets odds had fallen because the Titans were without their two top receivers: A. Brown and Julio Jones. However, it wouldn't be easy -- it never is for the Jets -- as they trailed and then Wilson, though, launched an amazing yard touchdown pass to Corey Davis , before Tennessee responded with a TD of their own from Cameron Batson with just 16 seconds remaining in regulation.
In overtime, Saleh's team drove 71 yards to set up a go-ahead yard field goal from Matt Ammendola. Tennessee responded by driving 44 yards in the overtime, but the game ended on a missed yard field goal attempt by Randy Bullock. Approximately 1, miles south, Joe Judge's Giants were orchestrating their own fourth-quarter comeback against the Saints.
Graham Gano successfully converted a yard field goal with 31 seconds remaining to send the game to an extra period. Facing a third-and-5 from New Orleans' 6-yard line in overtime, running back Saquon Barkley took the Daniel Jones handoff and carried it into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.
